Final Blog Post I am choosing the topic of Information Technology careers. This is a fascinating subject matter as there are any number of careers and opportunities in the space, from hands-on mechanical work to desk jobs creating artistic things. I also chose this topic because if I were to actually write and curate the blog, to keep this going past a class, this would be my vision for the blog. Let me elaborate; I started working in IT about 3 years ago, making a complete change in my life. Network Security The industry I will be commenting on is the Healthcare industry - I am in a family full of healthcare workers, and I have also worked in and around hospitals for years. I think it is fascinating how the healthcare field is evolving and how it will continue to grow with some help from the IT field. Where to start, computers have become integrated door-to-door with most hospitals today. When I was working in the emergency room of a local hospital in 2008, all of our work (registration/triage) was done on paper and transferred to our database, now most of this is done on PC carts wheeled from room-to-room. This however is basic evolution and not really impressive, however the movement to nationalize databases so that doctors you chose to see, could in turn see your treatment plans, prescriptions, medical history etc, is the game changer in my opinion. Traveling Through a Network Ping and Traceroute - I first Pinged Google, with the following results - I chose not to add more ping request and went with the standard Window's 4, and my results are pretty speedy, between 5ms and 8ms. Next I chose to ping BBC.uk.co, and the results were about the same, between 5ms and 8ms as seen below - And last I tried pinging Japantimes.co.jp with no results, and request timed put messages presented - this can be for different reasons like the site is down, they don't accept ping packets, etc. Next I moved onto the TraceRT command, starting with 8.8.8.8 and these are my results - my only had 1 hop, and 2 destinations with very low MS numbers- Below are my attempts to tracert both BBC news and Japan Times - As you can see both attempts only took 2 hops and relatively low times as well. Documenting a Day A typical day in my life: 2020 Due to the ongoing global pandemic, my days look slightly different than they would have, however in this writing I will provide the most accurate and detailed description of my days. 1. My days start off between 7am and 8:30 am with my son waking up. My wife works early shift (typically out of the house by 6:30, and home around 4:00pm) and I work a mid-shift (11:30-8:30pm) so I take care of our son in the mornings and spend my quality time with him. I don’t ever set an alarm clock because his waking up will wake me. 2. I go into his room, change his diaper, and take him out of his pajamas. 3. Web/Mobile App Critique Snapbridge is a lesser known application, that is unless you're someone interested in photography, and also happen to own a Nikon DSLR camera that is equipped with Bluetooth. Mainly the SnapBridge app is used to wirelessly transfer you photos from your DSLR to your phone, where you can in-turn edit them via other applications (lightroom, photoshop) or post them directly to social media. Through the application you can also perform some basic camera functions such as "remote photography" and access "Nikon's Image Space", their own cloud based system offering unlimited storage space for your photographs. The application is quite simple and well put together all-in-all, and there truly are not many things I could think to change with it.
